  1. I’m hoping running shoes are ok if they are clean, not worn looking, and roughly color matched. Black New Balance with black jeans or navy chinos, for example.

  3. Interesting and factual …. BUT … the big mistake is lumping all men into your style preferences (as great as they are).

Limited options here-in and in the marketplace for
    — wide feet
    — high arch
    — high in-step

Therefore my only options – due to colour preference for black and never brown are
    — size 13AAA – Australian sizes
    — black
    — must be lace-ups or boots: elasticised side and side zip
    — must be round- or squre-toe (couple of seasons has ridiculous pointed-toe shoes: even room in empty toe-ends for phones or wallets)
Plus I never wear runners or sandals and I never go without socks (my take is the sockless look is cheap and tacky)
Going by above, almost nothing in most shoe shops, even at size 12 standard.
About the only common size that fits me are either hike boots or work boots and they make a large foot size look huge!
